"Courageous Conversations" with Sarah Furness

Whether it's a podcast interview, deep dive fireside chat or if you'd like Sarah to be part of and/or host your panel,  Sarah will make sure the conversation provides truly meaningful insights.

-Explore "brave" or "taboo" topics that don't quite fit into a keynote but help to build a genuine sense of community and human connection in the room.

-Sarah brings her unique blend of humour, storytelling, and practical advice to the room... so it's not just inspirational, it's informational and empowering.

-External perspectives and facilitation of company-wide courageous conversations. Sarah can ask the slightly awkward questions that the audience would love to ask key stakeholders and management!

This your chance to shape the session exactly as you need it with one essential ingredient - COURAGE.

Sample Interview Questions

Courageous leadership under fire

  1. You led crews as a combat helicopter pilot under fire. What did those experiences teach you about leadership that most management books get wrong?
  2. You talk about “courageous leadership under fire”. What does that look like on an ordinary Tuesday in a corporate setting?
  3. You have a line: “Fear is contagious. So is courage.” How do leaders unintentionally spread fear – and how can they consciously spread courage instead?

Psychological bravery & debriefing

  1. Many organisations say they want “psychological safety”, but you talk about psychological bravery. What’s the difference, and why does it matter?
  2. Most teams do “after-action reviews” badly, if at all. What is a good debrief – and what are the biggest mistakes leaders make when they try?
  3. You say leaders should “lead decisively, then debrief with humility and compassion.” How can leaders balance authority with vulnerability without losing credibility?

Combat-grade mental training & performance

  1. You developed the H.A.B.I.T.S. approach and wrote The Uni-tasking Revolution. How does uni-tasking help people perform better under pressure?
  2. What are some simple, combat-tested mental training practices that anyone can use before a “high-stakes moment” – a big presentation, a tough conversation, a crisis?

Brave minds, brave teams, brave cultures

  1. For leaders listening who recognise elements of blame culture or fear in their organisation, what’s one small “brave” step they can take this week to start shifting things?
  2. Long term, what does a truly brave culture look and feel like – and how do you know you’re making progress?
